Grizzly Hills session two: Thor Modan and the challenge of the Titans

Image
Hey team! Last time we left off, the adventurers Rosalia and Fish welcomed their new member, Kal, to the party! (I called him Gron last post, he's Kal now) When they arrived at the Grizzly hills team leader's camp in the region, after a short battle with some vicious dire bears and furbolgs, they met with the new party member, Dr. Torval. During the Doctor's analysis of the furbolg body, he attempted to remove the brain, and got a surprise when it attached itself to his mask and attacked! they killed it swiftly, and took the furbolg's blackened heart in his analysis jar.  Through the information they gained from the trees (via Rosalia's speak with plants  spell) the 'Children of Ursoc' had retreated to Thor Modan, an ancient, abandoned Dwarven city that housed an old Trial of the Titans where the Dwarves tested if they were worthy.  Thor Modan "As the trees grow more sparse, you smell salt on the wind, a light breeze, coming from the di...

Grizzly Hills session one: The sickness of the Grizzly Hills

Image
The first session of the Grizzly Hills! We began with some organizational stuff - because one of the players, Rosalia, the Sylvari pack lord druid, class changed to one I recently made, a geomancer! It's a terrain-based class - gaining passive bonuses and active abilities if they're currently on their favoured terrains, along with an elemental eidolon. I was very excited that he chose that one! When the session began, Soren, our drakken death knight, chose to leave for Dragonblight along with Magnus, the Frozelia Dervish. Magnus received some important backstory information on the person he seeks in Northrend from the Pillar of Lore - which takes him in that direction as well. Also, Solessa left before they did, leaving them a note telling a little more of why she was in Northrend - connecting her backstory a bit with Soren's, surprisingly. But! The team was going to the Grizzly Hills, and the players who were Soren and Magnus made new characters! Magnus became a ...

Wrath of the Lich King session six: The Assault on Utgarde Pinnacle

Image
When we last left the party, they had defeated the tyrannical duo Svala Sorrowgrave and Skadi the Ruthless, along with the Ingvar the executioner, clearing both their names and Jarl Ulrah's via trial by combat. ### Utgarde Keep (continued) However! After a brief cheer, silence flew over the crowd as their attention drew to the King's seat - where an unarmored undead body lay. (For a bunch here, I played a youtube mix of the army of the dead music by Ramin Djwadi) Panic ensued, and without skipping a beat, the undead guards went out of control attacking Vrykul citizens and guards. The guards fought back against the undead while the others rushed for the exits. Ulrah turned to the five of them, and said “I must go to the Pinnacle. If the King is dead, or in danger, we must ensure the Four Pillars are safe. If they fall, we will surely fall to the Lich King’s reign. He allowed us to keep them intact, but now he may come for them if he believes we will break loose. ...

Wrath of the Lich King session five: The Executioner's Showdown

Image
Last session, the players arrived at Halstaff, the city that is home to the Vrykul Pillar of Community, and were offered a deal by King Ymiron's two Lieutenants, Svala Sorrowgrave and Skadi the Ruthless: bring the traitorous Jarl, Ulrah, to them dead or alive (preferably alive) to Utgarde Keep to make an example of her, and the party will gain their support. Fish detected something off, and the party 100% planned to kill them instead. Upon going to Mistward forest to search for Ulrah, they overcame the forest's trials (a place filled with the power of the ancestors) and met the accused Jarl - to which she told the party that it was Skadi and Svala whom framed her. The players decided to bring her with them, to face the lieutenants, along with Executioner Ingvar themselves. This was a very interesting situation - because originally, they could have faced Ingvar and his drakes alone, and Svala/Skadi separately. They wanted all three. Ingvar, Skadi (though with the wr...

Wrath of the Lich King session four: the Vrykul Pillar of Community and the Mistward Forest

Hey team! Last session, our heroes completed the trial of the runecarvers, gaining the support of Jarl Algriff to their cause, and soon after gained the support of Jarl Jorg through a one-on-one duel with Magnus to prove their worth! Very exciting. Hearing from Jorg that the Late Jarl Ulman of Halstaff, the Pillar of Community, was murdered by his daughter - and the new Jarl by blood, Ulrah - they chose to seek them out to both investigate what happened, to gain the city's support one way or another. Ulrah's claim is in question due to the accusations. For now she is the Jarl, but that could change. ### Halstaff (The Pillar of Community) Moving to the city a couple of weeks travel north, it was much larger than the previous two, and far less primitive than Ragefall. Many buildings were made of stone, some roofs were thatched and others wooden, with high stone walls surrounding the city as a whole They were met by guards at the entrance who began questioning them o...
